- Making a Salve
- 1 cup herb oil
About 1 ounce beeswax (about 1/2 cup grated into measuring cup)
2 caps (800 IU). vitamin E or about 6 drops essential oil (optional)
- Heat herb oil on low heat. When warm add beeswax a little at a time and melt into the oil. Only heat the oil enough to melt the beeswax. Adding vitamin E or essential oils helps to preserve the salve, adds fragrance and some medicinal properties. The stiffness of the salve is greater the more beeswax added. Test the consistency by taking a teaspoonful and placing it in the freezer for a few minutes. When the desired stiffness is obtained pour into containers and label.
